Where To Find RV Parts And Accessories On A Budget

Drivable Types Of RVs

As an RV owner, I know how important it is to save as much money as possible when it comes to outfitting or repairing your rig. Finding the necessary RV and accessories on a budget is a must.

Owning a motorhome or camper is a long-term investment. It’s not just the initial cost of the RV that pulls at the proverbial purse strings. Yearly maintenance, repairs, campsite fees, RV gear, and decorating your new rig to make it feel more like home can also play havoc on your budget. Not to mention the rising cost of fuel.

Over the past several years, I have found some wonderful places to find deals on RV accessories that are much easier on your wallet.

In this article I share the top ten places to find RV parts and accessories on a budget.

Let’s jump in…

Best Places To Save Money On Used RV Accessories/Parts

Decorating and outfitting your camper with everyday items can get costly when buying these items new. However, there are certain things that you can pick up that are gently used and save a ton of money in the process.

Not everything you need for your camper has to be new. In some cases, buying used is more economical and often makes more sense than buying new.

Garage Sales

Garage sales are one of the best places to find bargain deals on décor and accessories for your camper. I have found that when people redecorate their homes, they let go of their used decorations fairly cheap.

You can find great deals on things like curtains, kitchen towels, and dishes. Plus, if you’re lucky, you can find cheap prices on tools and other RV gear.

One of our best garage sale finds was our portable waste tank. Don’t worry, it wasn’t used. The people that were selling it never used it. They bought a larger tote and had no use for it, so we managed to save over $100 versus buying a new one from an online retailer.

Pawn Shops

Pawn shops are another great resource for used RV accessories and parts, not to mention tools. Pawn shop aisles are filled with shelf after shelf of used cordless drills, socket sets, wrenches, and other tools you may need for your RV tool kit.

If you shop at a pawn shop during the holidays, you can find many items marked up to 50% off. Our latest pawn shop finds were two 9,000 BTU Mr. Heater propane heaters. The store was having a half-off sale, so we walked out with both heaters for under $45. And yes, they still work fine.

Just as a note of caution, be sure to check the operation of anything you buy from a pawn shop to make sure it is good working condition.

In addition, check the prices of brand-new items versus the price of used ones. In some cases, you will find that the new product is just slightly higher than the pawn shop price.

Thrift Stores

Like garage sales and pawn shops, thrift stores are another gold mine for used RV accessories and camping gear, especially when it comes to decorating or outfitting your rig.

If you don’t need to stock your RV with new, expensive kitchenware, stop by your local thrift store and see what deals you can find. You can often find plastic cups, bowls, and plates for less than a dollar and they are great for taking to the campground for the weekend.

In addition, you can find cookware or like-new clothes that are perfect for the campground.

We find low-cost blankets at thrift stores for our dogs to sleep on when we’re out camping. They are much cheaper than dog beds and they give the pups a comfortable place to sleep at night.

RV Salvage Yards

RV salvage yards are full of motorhomes and campers that have been totaled due to motor vehicle accidents or a fire. However, many of the RV parts are salvageable and, in most cases, you can find what you’re looking for at a discounted price.

Keep in mind, however, that for safety reasons the RV salvage yard may not allow you to enter unless an employee escorts you.

To find an RV salvage yard, you can either do an online search for “RV Salvage Yards Near Me” or check certain websites like rvyard.com. Here you can find everything from door locks and exterior trim pieces to slide-out motors to replacement windows.

Best Places To Save Money On New RV Accessories/Parts

If buying used isn’t your cup of tea, there are many online and brick and mortar stores where you can find new, low-cost RV parts and accessories.

The most popular, and the largest online retailer is Amazon. They have a wide selection of RV parts and accessories plus anything else you might need for your rig.

In addition, if you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can save a few bucks on shipping.

The main drawback of Amazon is it can be difficult to find certain RV brand specific parts and accessories.

Camping World

Camping World is another popular online retailer for budget-friendly camping gear and RV accessories. Not only can you shop online, but you can also visit one of their many brick-and-mortar locations throughout the country.

Camping World offers great deals on everything you need for your rig. They carry a wide selection of outdoor and indoor accessories, cooking equipment, and RV furniture.

And if you’re looking to upgrade your current RV, Camping World also sells new and used RVs.

Tweety’s is an online retailer that specializes in budget-friendly RV parts and accessories. They offer products from the major name brands in the industry, but with huge savings and the original manufacturer’s warranty.

Not only do they provide parts and accessories for RVs, but they also offer towing and hitch accessories and after-market accessories for your tow vehicle.

Harbor Freight

Harbor Freight is our go-to place for low-cost RV supplies and accessories. Not so much in the traditional sense of toilets, awnings, or sewer hoses, but more in the sense of maintenance related items.

For example, you can save a ton of money on certain tools to keep in your RV toolkit. Plus, you can find great deals on other RV related items like wheel chocks, headlamps, inverter generators, and ratchet straps.

If you prefer to shop in person, they have hundreds of locations around the United States. To find the location nearest you, visit their website and search for locations near your zip code.

If you’re looking for professional customer service or have questions about specific RV accessories, eTrailer is definitely worth a look.

They offer everything from vehicle specific towing accessories to RV parts and accessories for your bathroom, kitchen, living room, and bedroom.

In addition, eTrailer offers budget-friendly products for the campsite, like tents, portable grills, and fire pits.

RecPro is another great option for finding RV parts and accessories on a budget, especially if you’re looking to do any renovations to your rig. They are located in Bristol, Indiana which is in the same county as Elkhart, where the vast majority of RVs are manufactured.

The main focus of RecPro is providing replacement and upgrade parts and accessories for RVs. They have anything you could need for your rig including appliances, windows, awnings, and furniture.

They carry parts and accessories from the most trusted brands in the industry and offer them at a low cost.

Final Thoughts

The RV lifestyle can get expensive. With camping fees, maintenance costs, and fuel prices, it is important to find RV parts and accessories that are budget friendly.

As with anything you’re thinking of purchasing, do your due diligence to research prices at more than one online merchant to make sure you’re getting the best deal possible.
